History

Emerging Minds was founded on the campus of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2002 by a graduate student who was frustrated with his current choices for Friday night entertainment and was looking to offer a mentally stimulating alternative that yielded a positive impact on society. The result of this young man's disappointment was an event known as "Mingling of the Minds." With the help of two other students the young man founded the organization Emerging Minds, which sponsored Friday evening social forums that addressed education, political and economic issues. The organization also launched a website that provided information about upcoming events and topics of the Emerging Minds. However, the founders of the organization felt that the website could be better utilized and thus in February of 2003 launched Emerging Minds Online, a news and business magazine.

What we are

Emerging Minds is a Pan-African news and business magazine that is a distributor (and not a publisher) of content supplied by third parties. The target market for our news distribution is generally Africans in the Diaspora, however our primary markets are in the United States, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Britain. The general themes of the content we distribute are business, politics, activism, and entertainment from a Pan-African perspective. However, our primary focus is on Pan-African business and activism.

Mission & Goals

The mission of Emerging Minds is to organize the minds of the future in order to create a better tomorrow for the children in underdeveloped communities. In order to do this, our primary goal is to establish our company as respected source for the distribution of positive and subversive journalism in order to build our target market’s confidence and will to create positive change. In addition, our other goals include connecting the minds from the activist community with the minds of the business community, as well as to increase awareness among our target market about investment opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
