Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - African leaders and officials are meeting in London to determine what preparations should be made in advance of the G20 meeting so as to drive Africa\’s interests, Ethiopian Television reported on Monday.
The leaders include Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi who will represent Africa at the G20 summit following a decision by the 12th African Union summit in Addis Ababa and an invitation by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The consultation is taking place six weeks ahead of the G20 summit to take place in London. The meeting will advance the agenda items Africa wants to be dealt with by the rich and emerging nations in their summit next month. Also attending the meeting are African Union Commission chairman Jean Ping, South African Finance Minister Trevor Manuel, African Development Bank president Donald Kaberuka and Economic Commission for Africa executive secretary Abdoulie Janneh.
