Bamako, Mali - The French Development Agency (AFD) and the “Banque Nationale de Développement Agricole” (Agricultural Development Bank) of Mali have signed two financing agreements for a total amount of about 5 billion CFA francs, APA learns here Saturday in Bamako, on the sidelines of a session of the Malian financial institution’s board of directors meeting.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - The Indian government has allocated US $6 billion loan and grant for the implementation of the decision of the India-Africa Cooperation Forum, the Director General for Africa in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Ambassador Gurjit Singh said in Addis Ababa on Saturday.

The Indian-African cooperation forum, launched a year ago, aims at strengthening cooperation between India and Africa on trade and development.

Vietnam to assist Nigeria in rice production

Abuja, Nigeria - Transformation Agritech, a Vietnamese company, will this month start the cultivation of 10,000 hectares of rice in Akwa Ibom State in southern Nigeria to assist the country to boost rice production and reduce imports.

Professor Etok Ekanem, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resource said on Monday in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, that the company had started recruiting staff for the project.

Tunis, Tunisia - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the AfDB Group, approved on 2 December 2009 in Tunis a US$245 million (152 million Units of Accounts) loan to finance a road sector support project in Tanzania, which constitutes 66% of the total project cost estimated at US$371 million (UA 230 million).
