Lilongwe, Malawi - Malawi is this week sending a donation of over 150,000 metric tons of rice to the earthquake hit victims of Haiti, a senior official said here on Monday.
The Minister of Information and Civic Education Leckford Thoto said in Lilongwe that the government had made the donation after witnessing the problems the Haitians were facing, especially in the areas of nutrition.
"Earthquakes are unpredictable. They can happen anywhere, and we just want to share the little that we have," he said. He expressed the hope that the donation would go a long way to saving many lives in Haiti. -APA |
